The Meaning of Birthstones

Many people give their loved ones jewellery pieces that feature the celebrants’ birthstones. Birthstones are gems that signify the month of birth.

March celebrants are given jewellery with aquamarine stones that stand for beauty and affection. Those who were born on April treasure diamonds, which represent love and prosperity.

People who celebrate their birthdays in May should be given a jewellery piece with an emerald, the stone of rebirth. For June celebrants, pearls are given, which symbolises purity and chastity. Ruby is the birthstone of those who were born in July and is said to bring warmth and vitality to its wearer. Jewellery pieces that have peridots, the stones for success and integrity, as centrepieces are for August celebrants.

Sapphires, which symbolise faithfulness and consistency, are for September celebrants. Opal, which represents foresight and prophecy, are good gifts for October celebrants. Those whose birthdays fall on November are given topaz, the stone of long life. Finally, jewellery pieces with turquoise, the stone of success and happiness, are given to December birthday celebrants.
